The Educated Choice
I was born, raised and grew up in the Oakridge area of Vancouver.
I went to Dr. Annie B. Jamieson Elementary School and graduated from Eric Hamber Secondary and many of my best friends went to Sir William Osler Elementary School and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary.
Growing up - I delivered newspapers to many of your homes; I “Trick or Treated” to your houses on Halloween; I came by during the winter after it snowed to ask if I could shovel your walk or driveways; sold lemonade at the corner of West 43rd and Fremlin; hung out with my friends; and rode my bike and walked to and from school on these very same streets.
Oakridge is an amazing neighborhood – a neighborhood that I feel a deep connection to! But much has changed in our area between 1970 and 2013 including: The densification of the Oakridge Mall; the Cambie Corridor; Multi-Family development on Oak Street; the future redevelopment of the bus depot on West 41st Avenue; as well as lane-way housing --- and the question remains --- how will this affect you, your family, your home, your property values, and your plans for the future in our neighborhood.
